Simon Matiwos 2016
Through his poetry, Simon Matiwos has been able to capture the feelings of in-betweenness that exist in more and more people in our society today. His rhythmic poems shift from sorrow to anger to hopefulness. Simon Matiwos is the 2016 recipient of the Diakité and Sachs Award for the works he has already created, but above all for the works he will create in the future. Simon Matiwos is in the process of establishing himself as one of Sweden’s greatest poets, a poet who gives a voice to the voiceless and captures those ears that stubbornly insist they don’t want to hear.
